The Arc of Buffalo County Hosts Annual Meeting
Recognizes Arc Angel, CJ Willis, and Dream Big Award Winners
Kearney, NE – May 13, 2022 – On May 12th, at 6 p.m. The Arc of Buffalo County hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards at the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney. The evening agenda included awarding The Arc Angel Award, the CJ Willis Award, and the Dream Big Award.
“These recognitions are our way of saying Thank You to the people and organizations in our support network. We’re so grateful for their contributions –not just to The Arc as an organization –but to the individuals and families we serve. Our lives are better because people and organizations like these award winners are part of it.”
– Renee Herrmann, Arc Interim Executive Director
The Arc Angel Award is presented to organizations or businesses that provide support to the Arc of Buffalo County for their programs and clients. This year the Arc Angel Award was presented to the Down Syndrome Advocates in Action. Each year they are instrumental in supporting Arc programming like the Adaptive Easter Egg Hunt held in the Spring.
In recognition of their unselfish service to all people with disabilities, the CJ Willis Award was presented to Paige Noble. Ms. Noble, a UNK Student, has been an invaluable member of the team this year. So much of the Arc’s success is because of her efforts.
The Dream Big Award is given annually to an Arc member as a way to recognize their achievements over the last year. This year Tim Coleman is honored with the Dream Big Award. Mr. Coleman participated in Buddy Bowling this Spring and brought with him a spirit of helpfulness and positivity. He was instrumental in creating an atmosphere of fun and belonging for all Arc participants.
In addition to awarding these individuals and organizations, we would like to extend a generous thank you to retiring board members Kiffany Conner, Travis Shaeffer, and Jenny Riggs. We welcome new Board Members Jordan Squiers and Tatum Meads.
The Arc of Buffalo County advocates for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Together with our network of members and affiliated chapters, we improve systems of support and services, connect families and inspire our community.
